Project Land Surveyor (Pearl City)

Full Time

Performs advanced professional work required in land surveying. Supervises and directs field surveys to include locating land boundaries, layout facilities for construction projects, easement staking, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, utility surveys, and other related HAWAII ENGINEERING GROUP surveying services. Conducts studies, performs calculations and prepares documents to determine land titles, ownership and descriptions of land in connection with surveying projects. Supervises SURVEY PARTY CHIEF and SURVEY TECHNICIAN.

FUNDAMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plans, organizes, schedules and directs field crew in conducting field surveys involving location of land boundaries, layout facilities for construction projects, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys and other related HAWAII ENGINEERING GROUP surveying services. Prepares labor estimates for surveying assignments. Provides occasional training to other survey personnel in the use of current survey equipment and instruments and safety procedures. Interacts with internal and external customers on survey and land documentation.

• Performs all calculations for mapping, construction layouts and land surveying documentation.

• Prepares and compiles maps, descriptions, and other legal documents for Hawaii Engineering Group surveying projects.

• Performs title searches for ownership, land descriptions, encumbrances, etc., for mapping and recordation purposes. Obtains survey data from government agencies or other sources.

• Provides assistance to the Principal (VP) Land Surveyor on status reports involving survey projects.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Working knowledge of personal computers and current office software. Able to work with spreadsheets, word processing, etc., as well as current surveying software applications to include data collection and data processing, cogo, contouring packages, and CAD.

• Working knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations as related to specific division or department activities.

• Operates company vehicle as required.

Structural Engineers

Both junior and senior structural engineer positions are available.

Junior structural engineer positions having a minimum of 3 years design office experience preferred. – SALARY $70k+

Senior structural engineer positions require having some project management experience in addition to design office experience. – SALARY $125k+

Survey Party Chief

Full Time

Performs advance professional work required in land surveying. Supervises and directs field surveys to include locating land boundaries, layout facilities for construction projects, easement staking, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, and other related HAWAII ENGINEERING GROUP surveying services.

Fundamental Responsibilities

  • Able to operate all the instrumentation required for the collection and distribution of survey data (Total Station/Scanner, Data Collector, Level, GPS units, or current technology).
  • Keeps field notes and plots them.
  • Plots cross section and profiles.
  • Performs all work required of a Survey Technician.
  • Manages and supervises lower level Survey Technicians.
  • Does topographic mapping with current CAD and Survey software.
  • Makes worksheets and other maps for various projects with current CAD and Survey software.
  • Makes searches of title in connection with projects assigned.
  • Calculate closures, area, elevations, computations, etc.
  • Operates Company vehicle as required.

Effectively communicate with Project Land Surveyor to ensure job requirements are meeting expectations.

CAD Operator

Full Time

Hawaii Engineering Group is looking for a CAD operator for a long-term full-time position for its Land Survey Department.

Candidate should be proficient in the use of various CAD software, and basic sheet/map layout.

Experience with the following is desirable:
a) Current versions of AutoCAD
b) Current versions of Carlson Civil Suite
c) Trimble Business Center (TBC)
d) Microsoft Word and Excel
e) Experience in creating various survey drawings to include Topographic, Boundary, ALTA, Subdivision, and Easement maps
f) Ability to multi-task on multiple assigned projects

Fundamental Responsibilities would include:
a) Prepares layout and working drawings; files and indexes drawings
b) Responsible for downloading/uploading field data, coordinating with and field crews
c) Monitoring field crew’s production and quality assurance
d) Perform initial QC of field deliverables according to standards and best practices
e) Coordinate with supervisor to ensure client-specific demands are being met
f) Adhering to Company professional guidelines

Other Responsibilities may include:
a) Perform routine administrative and clerical tasks assigned
b) Upkeep of personal workspace and assist with upkeep of office space
c) Assist with keeping log of material and equipment
d) Perform similar and incidental duties as required
